Welcome to London Youth Orchestra's Website
London Youth Orchestra was set up by Sacha Esterson in 2000. Under his supervision, the orchestra performed for leading television production companies in the UK and abroad, was featured on Classic FM and in the British press, and the London Youth Orchestra education department pioneered a groundbreaking workshop series for primary schools, which allowed young budding teachers to mentor and develop musical interest at grassroots level.
In September 2007, the orchestra was taken over by its current conductor Boris Peck. Since 2005, Boris had previously been conducting Westminster Youth Orchestra, and was keen to expand it and open it up to young musicians from all around London. It is represented by a large number of London schools from many boroughs. The orchestra meets up for weekly rehearsals and gives two or three concerts per year.
